I happened to stumble upon Mark Manson’s The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck as I was perusing Amazon’s books on business (and personal) growth. The catchy title and high reviews got my attention, so it joined my cart along with other titles such as Never Split The Difference and The 2AM Principle.
The book is a great read and an eye-opener on how we all tend to think about our personal lives, our careers, and our business goals. Its basic premise is that we all spend way to much time giving a fuck about what other people think about us or do to us, how we’re affected by the actions others, and whether or not we succeed at any given venture.
This book is a wake up call for us to determine what things we should really be giving a fuck about and what things we should get over and let go. The author provides an interesting take on how we should look at our lives and careers and how we should measure success or achievement in any given area. We all struggle with problems that we’re looking to overcome or milestones we’re looking to reach. Rather than viewing the end-result as the destination, this book is a reminder that the journey through life’s troubles is what it’s all about, and how changing our viewpoint on things can dramatically change our happiness and the outcome of anything we’re facing. Highly recommended reading!
